# TokElements > Live overlays for TikTok LIVE. Streamers add one browser source to OBS; widgets on that overlay > react in real time to gifts, follows, subscriptions, shares, chat, likes, joins, stickers, polls, > PK battles and reward redemptions. Widgets are HTML/CSS/JS running in a sandboxed iframe, either > from the 51-widget catalogue or written from scratch in the browser. TokElements is a hosted web app. There is nothing to install: an account, a public TikTok username, and a browser source URL pasted into OBS. ## How it works 1. Link a TikTok channel by its public @username. No password and no TikTok login are involved — the channel is found through the live room it is broadcasting to, so it has to be live at that moment. 2. Paste the overlay URL into an OBS browser source (1080 × 1920 by default). 3. Place widgets on the overlay. They receive events over SSE while the channel is live. ## Widgets Written as three parts — html (body content), css and js — inside a sandboxed, transparent iframe. No external scripts, no fetch, no cookies; remote images, audio and fonts are allowed. The runtime API is `window.TE`: - `TE.on(event, fn)` — live events: gift, follow, subscribe, share, chat, like, join, sticker, metrics, milestone, poll, battle, rank, envelope, pinned, deleted, streamState, apiEvent, nowPlaying - `TE.onCommand(keyword, fn)` — exact chat commands; pass a function (`function () { return s.command; }`) when the command is a setting, so it follows live edits - `TE.act({ id })` — stream actions: image, sound, text, metric, tts, demo, store, command, act, points, runtime, settings - `TE.defineSettings([...])` — streamer-facing controls rendered in the overlay editor - `TE.store` — persistent visual state; `TE.state`, `TE.collection`, `TE.queue`, `TE.random`, `TE.cooldown`, `TE.timer` — transactional, server-serialised, for giveaways and games - `TE.points.balance / addSafe / trySpend / top` — the loyalty economy: balances, charging a viewer for something, the leaderboard. Viewers earn it automatically for gifts, follows, subscriptions, shares, joins, chat and watch time, at rates the streamer sets. They spend it on rewards the streamer writes — a shoutout, a song, anything — claimed with a chat command or a TikTok gift. Never inline media as base64 — reference uploaded assets by their /api/files/… URL. - Events only arrive while the linked TikTok channel is actually live. An offline channel and a channel that does not exist are indistinguishable from outside. - TikTok itself decides who may go live — roughly 1,000 followers, 16+ (18+ for gifts), and in some regions only through an agency or creator network. TokElements cannot grant it.
